It's Vegas time!

It's February 12th, which means I will be a year older in less than 24 hours.

I have decided to seize an opportunity to go with some friends (March 6th-10th) for my first-ever trip to Vegas as a nice birthday present to myself. I plan to do the usual things a first-timer to Vegas will do: see the sights, take in a show, play some poker, do some serious eating and drinking, etc. etc.

Any advice from Vegas veterans would be welcome. I will have to make an attempt to meet any of the Vegas-based bloggers during my visit.

You probably don't need much advice for having a good time in Vegas your first time out. You'll have plenty to do.
My trips all involve casino hopping and lots of poker...
My favorite poker spots are Caesars, the MGM, the Venetian and Bellagio.
Downtown is worth checking out, but the scene down there is getting very old school.
Touring the sports books is also fun.

Alan would say go the Rhino.

Shows - I highly suggest LOVE, the Cirque Beatles show at the Mirage.

Food - there's plenty of good there. Really depends what you're looking for.

Casinos - Just hop from one to another to see what you like. MGM's poker room is good, as is the Venetian's. $3 craps at Casino Royale! Or $5 craps with 100x odds!

And my guilty pleasure is the Star Trek Experience at The Hilton. If you like Trek. If not, don't bother.
